KOLKATA, June 8: Anil Kumble has been named in India’s Test and one-day squads to tour England after recovering from the broken jaw he suffered in the West Indies last month.
Spinner Kumble, 32, was struck by a rising delivery from paceman Mervyn Dillon while batting in the fourth Test in Antigua and returned to India for corrective surgery.
Kumble was the only change to the Indian one-day squad that beat the West Indies earlier this month but young wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel was a surprise inclusion in the 16-strong Test squad that was also announced on Saturday.
India’s tour of England begins with a one-day tri-series, against their hosts and Sri Lanka, getting underway on June 27, then features a four-Test series starting at Lord’s on July 25, followed by matches at Trent Bridge (Aug 8-12), Headingley (Augt 22-26) and The Oval (Sept 5-9).
