Civil defence bodies being set up in AJK

MIRPUR, June 8: In view of the mounting Indian aggression, civil defence committees are being formed throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources told APP here on Saturday that defence committees would be formed at the sector-level residential ward in the urban areas, while in the rural areas, they would be set up at each village, comprising social workers, former services’ men, students, Ulema, businessmen and journalists.

The civil defence department will train the members of the proposed committees to extend relief to the needy in any eventuality, especially to extend first aid to injured.

All government functionaries as well as the public have been directed to dig trenches and build bunkers at open places.

The AJK government has asked the divisional and district administrations to educate the people, especially those living in the LoC areas, about self-defence.

Doctors of various hospitals in the urban areas have been directed to move to the hospitals in the LoC areas to ensure the provision of quick medical aid to the victims of Indian firing.
