PO killed in ‘encounter’

SIALKOT, June 8: A proclaimed offender was killed on Friday night after a three-hour long encounter with Pasrur Saddar police in Noorpur village, Qila Karwala.

The SSP told newsmen on Saturday that PO Farooq had taken shelter in the house of Asghar after committing several dacoities. On a tip-off, police raided the place and besieged the house. The PO opened fire on police which was returned. The shootout continued for about three hours as a result of which the PO was killed. A terror in the area, the PO was wanted by the police in various cases of murder, dacoity and kidnap for ransom.

LOOTED: Four armed robbers on Saturday looted a car, Rs800,000 in cash, wristwatches and two mobile phones from an exporter near Motra on the Sialkot-Daska Road.

Farooq and his nephew Asim Nadeem were going to Sialkot when robbers stopped the car near MR Link canal bridge. They made them hostage, collected cash, valuables and drove away with exporter’s vehicle towards Gujranwala-Muridke Road. As the vehicle reached in front of Muridke police station, Farooq jumped down from it, but robbers fled away after kidnapping his nephew, Asim.
