KARACHI: JI, NPP to cooperate with each other


KARACHI, June 8: The Jamaat-i-Islami and the National Peoples Party have expressed unanimity of views on the defence of the country and to in case of any foreign aggression.

This was stated by Amir Jamaat Islami, Kazi Hussain Ahmed and NPP chief Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, while talking to newsmen after their meeting on breakfast on Saturday.

The breakfast was hosted by Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi here at his defence Society residence.

Also present on the occasion were NPP’s Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Abdul Ghaffar Jatoi and JI’s Prof Abdul Ghafoor Ahmed and Dt Mairajul Huda Siddiqi.

Qazi Hussain Ahmed said: “We believe in the restoration of the 1973 Constitution and that it should not be amended. However, if need be, any change can be brought constitutionally.”

He said the Jamaat Islami was part of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Aman, while Mr Jatoi headed the National Alliance. “Although our platforms are separate, we will continue to cooperate with each other in the national interest”.

Endorsing the views of Kazi Hussain Ahmed, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi said the chief election commissioner should be a person who enjoyed the confidence of all political parties as well as the people.

Mr Jatoi thanked Kazi Hussain Ahmed for accepting his invitation and it was agreed that such meetings would continue in future also.—APP
