GUJRANWALA, June 7: The Anti-Corruption Establishment arrested four policemen, including an SHO, CIA inspector, and an Irrigation ziladar on corruption charges here on Friday.

Former SHO Abdul Hafiz (Daska) and ASI Muhammad Amjad had received Rs8,000 in bribe from a man in connection with a case, but they did not support him.

The ACE registered a case against them, but they got an interim bail from a local court. On Friday, the ACE arrested them after the anti-corruption court rejected their bail application.

Meanwhile, the CIA inspector and former Satrah SHO had received Rs70,000 in bribe from Zulfikar Ali of Kassowal. He also got an interim bail from court after the registration of a corruption case against him.

On Friday, court cast away his bail application as a result of which the ACE arrested him on the spot.

Another SI Zafar of Ugoki police had taken bribe from Muhammad Riaz, but could not provide him help. He later refused to return the money to the complainant who moved court. The ACE also arrested him on the orders of court.

Ziladar Muhammad Ashraf was also arrested by the ACE on the charge of receiving Rs35,000 in bribe from Sharifan Bibi of Ratta Jatholi for getting the canal water connection.

STRANGLED: A woman was strangled on Friday by her relatives over an agriculture land dispute at Salehpur village, Sadhoki.

Zohra Bibi (80) was present in her house when two brothers Muhammad Younas and Muhammad Aslam came there and strangled her.

Kamoke Saddar police have registered a case and are investigating.
