SHIKARPUR, June 7: A local JUI leader, Dr Haji Ghulam Muhammad Brohi, was shot dead at a mosque in village Dinpur near here on Thursday.

It has been gathered that the leader fell victim to a karo-kari dispute involving his son.

Abdul Ghafoor Brohi, a relative of the diseased, and some of his accomplices are alleged to have carried out the fatal attack.

Humayoon police have registered a case against the accused.

LIVING CONDITIONS: The indifferent attitude of the elected representatives as well as the local municipality towards the already poor living conditions in Shikarpur has been making the lives of the town’s inhabitants miserable.

The town’s drainage and sanitation system has virtually collapsed with filthy water standing at many of the main thoroughfares and heaps of garbage dumped at almost all the street corners.

No responsible district or municipal official has since bothered to pay any attention to the situation which has brought an unbearable misery to the residents.
