KARACHI: Man run over by bus

KARACHI, June 7: A middle-aged man fell victim to reckless driving in the city on Friday.

The police said that Manzoor Husain, aged 50, a government servant, was run over by a speeding minibus (PE-3491) while walking across the main road near Al-Mustafa Welfare Centre in Khokhrapar No 1. He was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he died.

The bus driver escaped after the accident.

A small girl was injured in a road accident in Pak Colony on Friday morning.

The police said that Hina, aged five, was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle near Hasan Auliya Village in the police limits of Pak Colony. The vehicle escaped after the accident.

The injured girl had been admitted Civil Hospital.

An 11-year-old boy died when he came under the wheels of a railway engine near Baloch Colony.

The police said that the victim, identified as Wasim Rehmat, fell from a train and died after he came under the wheels of its engine.

The body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem.

ARRESTS: The police claimed to have arrested 26 criminals in the city in the past 24 hours.

The police recovered six pistols, two rifles, three revolvers, three knives, 70 gram charas, 38 gram heroin and 30 bottles of liquor.
