HUB, June 6: Balochistan excise and tax authorities, on the charges of non-payment of property tax, seized about 32 shops on Wednesday here.

A recovery team of the department — comprising Inspector Fareedullah Kakar, Aslam Bugti and a magistrate found, during an inspection, that 32 shopkeepers had failed to pay property taxes, despite receiving notices and warnings for the seizure of their shops.

BOYCOTT: Lasbela District Council members, protesting against police behaviour, boycotted the district assembly session on Tuesday at Uthal.

After the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, Alahabad Union Council Nazim Rajab Rind, announced the boycott and staged a walkout from the assembly hall.

He said that one week ago some councillors had attacked Tehsil Naib Nazim Abid Motak and General Councilor Mohammed Yousuf when they were busy in bidding of development works tenders.

“Hub police have not only failed to arrest the accused, but also were favouring the criminal”, he alleged while talking to newsmen outside the hall.

Some other council members — Moosa Ronjho, Azeem Sian, Abdul Ghaffar Mondra, Abdul Ghafoor Baloch, Hameed Baloch etc.— expressed solidarity with Rajab Rind and walked out of the assembly hall.

Protesters demanded of the authorises to early arrest the accused, and transfer of the Deputy Superintendent of Police and SHO of Hub police.

They threatened if their demands were not addressed, they would block the RCD Highway.

Later, the convener of the assembly tried to convince the protesting members and told them that district Nazim Jam Kamal Khan had talked to the governor and corps commander who assured to help solve the problems.

A letter had also been sent to the President, apprising him of the issue, he said and expressed hope that the problem would be resolved soon.
