Misuse of medical budget in PTCL alleged
MANSEHRA, June 6: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTCL) Line Staff Union (LSU) has demanded an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the medical budget of the PTCL.
The LSU central joint secretary Manzoor Ali, while speaking at a news conference here on Thursday, alleged that the medical budget of the PTCL meant for it’s 60,000 employees and their families was being spent on luxuries of the PTCL highups by presenting bogus medical bills.
On the other hand, cheap and substandard medicines were being supplied to the PTCL dispensaries, and lower cadre employees and their families were left only to die without
any health care facilities, he added.
He said the company has a Rs400 million medical budget.
He alleged that the senior medical officer (SMO) of the PTCL was following wrong policies and misusing his powers. He charged the PTCL SMO with nepotism and favouritism.
He said under the wrong policies being followed by the SMO, instead of providing health care to all the four provinces, a big chunk of the medical budget was going to some expensive hospitals, and nursing homes of the country.
Manzoor Ali alleged that the PTCL employees posted in the far flung areas of the country were being deprived of health care.
He demanded of the PTCL chairman and the federal minister for science and technology to order an investigation into the matter.
