By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 6: Berthing activity at the Karachi port was maintained on the higher side on Thursday as the agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels well in time, according to KPT sources.

As a result, all the new arrivals including Al-Mariyah, Jamila, Sinar Bangka and Kot Selamat to unload and load containers, Myrto to offload fertilizer, Eleanna and Trade Wind Sun to unload palm oil and Shirvan, were berthed after the departure of three.

The ships, which departed were led by APL Mocico, L.M.Z. Christiana and Sea Splendor, while Mele, Trade Wind Sun, Sea Wind, Overseas Juneau, Shirwan, and Kota Selamat are due to sail out on Friday.

Berth occupancy at the wharves was maintained at 100 per cent on the oil piers and 50 per cent on the dry berths.

A total tonnage to 60,876 tons comprising 16,182 tons of export cargo and 44,694 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Friday: APL Lion Mail, PONL Everest, with containers and Eastern Bright, with general cargo.
