FAISALABAD, June 5: Tickets for national and provincial assemblies’ seats will be awarded to loyal party workers after minutely scrutinizing the applications of interested candidates.

This was stated by Punjab PPP secretary-general Rana Aftab Ahmed and divisional coordinator Raja Riaz Ahmed while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday.

They said that party’s local offices and its central secretariat had received thousands of applications from former parliamentarians, former ticket holders, Nazimeen and Naib Nazimeen of union councils, elected representatives and other party activists to contest the forthcoming general elections.

Almost all the applications, they said, had been sent to chairperson Benazir Bhutto while the decision to award party tickets would be taken by party’s respective boards under the direct command of the chairperson.

Rana Aftab said the PPP had so far made no alliance with political parties, but talks were underway about the adjustments of seats in some districts of Punjab and Sindh.

He said Pakistan had been passing through a critical juncture due to a war like situation on borders and the government should take all political and religious parties into confidence to blow over the crisis.
