HYDERABAD: Growers protest water shortage


HYDERABAD, June 5: The tail-end growers of Shorki minor, Bulri Shakh sub-division Akram Wah, Tando Mohammed Khan, held a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Tuesday for not being supplied irrigation water since last year.

In a joint representation to the chief engineer, Kotri, they complained that they were not being supplied irrigation water since last year.

The protesters told newsmen that the water was being stolen by the influential landlords.

WASA: The managing director of Wasa, Hyderabad, informed the general public that there was an electric power breakdown on 4-6-2002 at the Fort water supply pumping station from 4am to 7am. He said the breakdown may cause severe water shortage in the areas of Hali Road, American Quarters, Hazara Colony, Cantonment, Gari Khata, Risala Road, Station Road, Radio Pakistan, and Tulsidas Road.—Bureau
