KARACHI: Environment Day tomorrow


KARACHI, June 3: World Environment Day will be celebrated on June 5, to renew the global commitment for protection and rehabilitation of environment with more dedication and vigour.

The event calls for collective efforts to commemorate it in a way to share the environmental concerns of the comity of nations and to highlight them for enhancement of awareness level of the common man.

The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency will celebrate the day by arranging a two-day painting competition/exhibition among the students of Fine Art institutions on June 4 and 5 at the Pakistan Arts Council on the topic “Give Earth a Chance”, from 10am to 6pm.

The inauguration of the exhibition will be held on June 4 at 10am. The secretary of the department of forest, wildlife and environment, Shamsul Haq Memon, will be the chief guest.

The award distribution ceremony will be held on June 5 at 5pm at the Manzar Akbar Hall of the Pakistan Arts Council.

The provincial minister for finance and planning, Hafiz Sheikh, will be the chief guest.—PPI
