KARACHI: Volunteers check traffic violations

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 2: The Defence Association’s Coordination Committee (DACC) and the traffic police began on Sunday joint efforts to check violations of traffic rules, especially by public transport, in Clifton.

According to a DACC press release, the traffic committee idea had been mooted by the DACC General Secretary, Aziz Suharwardy, at previous meetings with the DIG Traffic, Saud Mirza, to check violations of traffic rules.

Volunteers of the DACC joined hands with the traffic police on a busy traffic junction near the Mazar of Abdullah Shah Ghazi to check violations of traffic rules. Volunteers and the traffic police stopped drivers violating traffic rules and creating disturbance on the roads. Violators were politely told not to disregard traffic rules for the sake of their own lives and those of others. Since ordinary citizens instead of police approached them, most of the drivers responded positively.
