Windstorm toll 15

BAHAWALPUR, June 1: The death toll in the Tuesday’s windstorm rose to 15 in different rural areas of Hasilpur tehsil.

Earlier, seven people were reported to have become victims of the windstorm.

It is reported that Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Sharif and his son Muhammad Siddique, were killed due to the collapse of their house’s wall at Chak 57-A. Zarina (9) and her sister (5) died at Mouza Sheikh Wahan, two more sisters Zakia Bibi and Zarina Bibi died at Gharib Mohallah near Hasilpur Mandi, while another became victim at Chak 83-A. The reports also claimed that a number of injured were under treatment at the Hasilpur THQ.

DROWNS: A first year student and son of teacher Bashir Ahmed of Mohajir Colony drowned in Ahmedpur branch canal at Chak 8-BC near here on Friday.

His body was recovered by divers after hectic efforts on Saturday.
