Woman councillor, son injured by rivals

By Our Correspondent

SAHIWAL, May 31: A lady councillor and her son were injured by their rivals in Chak 88/6-R, Naiki, on Friday.

Reports said Salma Parveen had a rivalry with Abdul Sattar over elections. On Friday, Sattar and his accomplices clubbed Parveen and her son, injuring them seriously.

Residents in the locality rescued the councillor and her son and took them to a hospital.

DEATH SENTENCE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad on Friday awarded death sentence to a youth and life term to his brother in a murder case.

The prosecution said Muhammad Ramzan and his brother Muhammad Siddique killed one Rizwan Ahmad on April 6, 2000, over a dispute in Chak 91/6-R.

Farid Town police had registered a case under sections 302 and 34 PPC and arrested them.

The court also handed down three-year rigorous imprisonment each to Muhammad Ramzan and his sister’s husband Zawar Husain.

The court acquitted one Anwar bibi, the sister of Husain, giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Noorshah police four years back registered a case against the accused for criminal assault on a girl and arrested them.
