SANGHAR, May 31: The Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan, Sanghar district, has begun a loan recovery campaign.

The defaulted amount is said to be about 500 million rupees.

Most of the big defaulters have gone underground.

During last week more than 20 landlords were arrested and released after partial payment or defered cheques.

The ADBP branches in the district have been declared sub-jails.

Those arrested were Jan Mohammad Maher, Hadi Bux Laghari, Wali Mohammad Pahore, Faiz Alam Mari, Sher Khan Mari, Syed Adullah Shah, Mohammad Hashim Dars, Pir Bux, Syed Ganhwar Ali Shah, Pir Mohammad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Sain Bux Sangrasi, Anwar Ali Rajar, Mohammad Sachal Pahore and Ghulam Mohammad Pahore.

The ADBP sources told Dawn that they had to meet the recovery target up to June 30.

Many landlords are trying to sell their lands at throwaway prices to meet the liabilities of the bank.

POLICEMEN PUNISHED: DPO, Sanghar, Ghulam Qadir Thebo, has punished seven policemen for their failure to detect crime, absence from duty and faulty investigation of crimes.

One-year service of ASI Muneer Baig was forfeited for not investigating a murder attempt case and he was also demoted.

One to two years’ services of constables Shamsuddin, Ghulam Haider and Munir Ahmed of Sinjhoro and Khipro police were forfeited for remaining absent from duty.

One-year increment of constable Qadir Bux of the Shahdadpur police and 12 days’ pay of the police lines constable Mohammad Malooks was forfeited.

Meanwhile, the Sanghar police have arrested Muhammad Aqil for possessing a TT pistol loaded with five bullets and impounded his motorcycle which was without number plate. A case under 13-D was registered against him.

The Mangli police arrested two absconders, Dhani Bux and Suleman, both residents of Rawtiani.

The Jhol police arrested an alleged habitual criminal, Haroon Majidano, and chargesheeted him under section 14 of Sindh Crimes Control Act.

The Tando Adam police has arrested Asghar Ali Thaheem and Ali Nawaz under section 110, PPC.

They have also arrested the absconders Qaiser and Shahbaz.

BODY: A body, apparently of a drug addict, was found near Jamrao Mori on Sanghar-Shahdadpur road on Thursday.
