GILGIT, May 31: Special Communications Organization Director-General Maj-Gen Mohammad Waheed Malik has directed the SCO personnel in Northern Areas to improve the infrastructure by completing the work on various projects.

During his visit to the five districts of the Northern Areas after taking charge as the director-general, Maj-Gen Malik also directed the SCO staff to make efforts for providing maximum connections to the people.

He said that in the areas without electricity batteries would be provided to operate the wireless local loop system. He advised the officials to close down unnecessary and manual telephone exchanges after replacing them with the modern equipment.

He discussed the problems with respect to issuance of inaccurate bills and opening of the public call offices.
