TOBA TEK SINGH, May 31: The federal government has approved provision of gas and electricity to various villages and localities of the district at the cost of Rs10 million.

Official sources said on Friday that gas would be provided to Abu Bakar Town, Painsara Road in Gojra, Garden Town, Grid Station Colony, District Complex and housing colony No 2 in Toba Tek Singh while Chak numbers 392 JB, 329 JB, 317 JB, 321 JB, Christian Colony, Basti Odhan Wali, Government Tameer-i-Millat High School, Kamalia, Jamia Siddiqia and Ramzan Nagar will be electrified during the next financial year.

SENTENCED TO DEATH: Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Falak Sher Farooq on Friday sentenced to death on three counts a man for killing his three relatives in nearby Chak No 185 GB.

Convict Zafar Iqbal alias Zafri was also ordered to pay Rs210,000 as compensation to the heirs of the women he killed in 1997 over enmity.

The court acquitted co-accused Muhammad Akhtar, Qaisar Dawood and Ijaz Ahmad as the prosecution failed to prove charges against them.
