TOBA TEK SINGH, May 29: The provincial government has yet not transferred powers of spending or utilizing the Benevolent Fund money of its employees to district governments.

Worst-sufferers are the widows or families of the deceased government employees who have been unable to get even the burial expenses for the last one-and-a-half-year.

This was disclosed by office bearers of the Pakistan Irrigation Employees Power Union (CBA) here on Wednesday.

They said the benevolent fund had continuously been deducted from the salary of government employees and sufficient funds were available with former deputy commissioners or commissioners’ offices.

Since the introduction of new government system the funds were not being utilized for employees burials, their daughters’ weddings and scholarships for their children, they said.

They demanded that the Punjab governor should take stock of the situation.
