LAHORE, May 28: The death toll as a result of the Monday night’s windstorm in Punjab has risen to 12.
According to reports four people were killed in Lahore a cell phone booster and its fences fell on them.
Three of the four men killed were identified on Tuesday as Faisal Rehman and Mohammad Faheem of Sodiwal Quarters and Idrees of Gulshan Ravi.
The police have registered a case against plaza owners Syed Ehsan and Afzal Latif under section 319 of the Cr.PC.
In Multan Three died when a wall of a mosque and a portion of an under-construction house fell on them. Several people were reported injured.
Bodies of two employees of a textile mill in Green Town, Lahore were recovered from the debris of a wall. They were identified as Zahid Ahmad, 28, a resident of Faisalabad and Abdul Malik, of Lahore.
A schoolteacher, Riaz, died instantly when a portion of his house in Chuhng fell on him.
A youth and a woman were killed in Sahiwal as well.
One Allah Ditta was killed and his father Noor Ahmad, mother Sabran, sister Parveen, and two others Shahmand and Hadayat sustained injuries by the sudden collapse of their flimsy houses in Chak 60/4-R caved in.
In Chak 81/5-R and 181/9-L, roofs of several mud houses caved in killing one Rabia and seriously injuring her child Sanaullah, Bashir Ahmad and Farzand.
In Vehari, over 40 people were injured.
