No more annual exams in schools

TOBA TEK SINGH, May 23: There will be no more annual examination for class 1 to 8 in government and private schools in the Punjab.

An education department official told this correspondent on Thursday that the promotion of students to next classes would depend on their results in house examinations.

Class teachers would conduct review tests instead of annual examinations, he said, adding a review tests programme and material, including books, had already been distributed among the heads of all the government and private schools in the district.

The first review test to be held during the current month in all the schools would supervised by education department officials, he concluded.

LOOTED: Dacoits on Thursday took away cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from a farmer’s house in Chak 188-GB.

Reports said six dacoits stormed into Tajammul Husain’s house, held up the inmates and took away cash, jewellery and valuables.

COMMITTED SUICIDE: A man committed suicide over some domestic dispute in Gojra on Thursday.

Nadir Ali of Ghaffar Park had reportedly some domestic dispute. On Thursday, he took poison.

He was admitted to the Gojra Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where he died.
