KARACHI: Transport fares go up


KARACHI, May 21: The Sindh transport department, consequent upon revision of POL prices by oil companies advisory committee on May 15, has revised the public transport fares.

The fares are under:

Description Urban Routes

Buses

Up to 5 kms Rs 4.00

Up to 10 kms Rs 5.00

Up to 15 kms Rs 6.00

Up to 20 kms Rs 6.00

Up to 25 kms Rs 6.50

Up to 30 kms Rs 6.50

Students 50% of

normal fare

Minibuses

Up to 5 kms Rs 5.00

Up to 10 kms Rs 6.00

Up to 15 kms Rs 7.00

Up to 20 kms Rs 7.00

Up to 25 kms Rs 7.00

Up to 30 kms Rs 7.00

Coaches

Upto 10 kms Rs 9.00

Above 10 kms Rs 10.00

Inter-City Routes

Metalled Roads Buses per km

50 seats & above Rs 0.37

Katcha Roads Buses

50 seats & above Rs 0.39

AC coaches Rs 0.72

Minibuses

26-29 seats Rs 0.37

Minibuses

13-18 seats Rs 0.37

Stage-cum-public

Carrier (desert) Rs 0.53

The minimum fare of Rs3 will continue to be charged by the inter-city stage carriage vehicles for any intermediary stop lying between the stops.

The above revision of fares is subject to conditions that the transporters shall ensure to replace the old smoke-emitting vehicles and make their vehicles environment friendly, avoid over-loading of passengers and whenever the prices of POL are lowered, there will be proportionate reduction in the fare rates, the notification added.
