Euro steady

LONDON, May 21: The euro held steady against the dollar on Tuesday as doubts about the health of the US economy kept a drag on the US unit.

The single European currency stood at $0.9202 against $0.9210 late on Monday in New York.

The dollar rose to 125.65 yen from 125.37 in New York.

The price of gold rose to $315.75 an ounce from $311.50 late on Monday.

The dollar staged a bit of a comeback overnight, but now we’re seeing dollar selling across the board,” said Standard and Poor’s economist Will Rugg.

The trend is firmly in place for a weaker dollar, he said.—AFP
