QUETTA, May 18; Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized 1,000kg of hashish following an encounter with drug smugglers in Hotchah area, some 70km west of Turbat, on Saturday.

The ANF troops also seized arms and ammunition, including RPG-7 rounds, an AK-47 rifle and its rounds, a Toyota Stout and a wireless set.

“The consignment belonged to Mir Bayan of Wakai and Yar Mohammad of Sole Mand,” an ANF officer said and added that investigation was in progress and arrests were expected in this connection.

The ANF troops moved in the area on a tip-off that drugs were likely to be transported to Middle East through Gwadar. After a shootout they recovered the hashish loaded in a vehicle.
