KARACHI, May 18: Bandits shot a young man to death in his Shadman Town home on Saturday morning.
The family of the dead man said that three bandits entered the house of Ahsan Fasih, aged 32, in sector 7-D/3 in North Karachi, held the occupants of the house hostage at gunpoint and started looting cash and valuables. Ahsan, who worked with a private airline, put up resistance to the bandits, who opened fire on him and fled the scene leaving him in a pool of blood.
Ahsan was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. He suffered a bullet wound to his chest. Ahsan leaves behind one brother and three sisters. He was the sole bread-winner of his family.
Residents of the locality said that lately there had been a surge in robberies in the area, and the police had failed to take appropriate action.
KILLED: A man was stabbed to death in a quarrel over water in Korangi on Saturday.
The police said that people were filling water in buckets and cans at a community tap in Sector 50-B in Korangi where two men had an argument over their turn.
Mehmoodullah, aged 25, lost his temper and kicked Abdul Shakoor’s pot. Upon this Shakoor pulled out a dagger and attacked Mehmood who suffered injuries to his neck. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
UTP DIES: An under-trial prisoner died in a hospital on Saturday. The police said that the UTP was suffering from paralysis and bedsore.
The police said that Mohammed Nasir was arrested after he had been injured when he was hit by a bullet. He was admitted to a hospital and later lodged in a prison. The lower part of his body had been paralyzed and he could not move from his bed due to which he had also been suffering from bedsore. He was shifted to a hospital from the prison where he underwent two surgical operations and another was due in a couple of days. Sources said the UTP was lodged in Landhi prison.
The police said that Nasir was named in two FIRs for his alleged involvement in a murder case and a criminal case.
