KARACHI, May 17: Five ships including Kuayans carrying 6,500 tons of palm oil are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy fell to 15 per cent on the dry wharves and to 33 per cent on the oil piers as the arrivals of a number of calling ships were delayed.

Berthing activity at the wharves slow owing to delayed arrivals and as a result only one ship, Al-Manakh to unload and load containers was berthed after the departure of seven.

The ships, which departed included Malamand, Safe Marine Wami, Perok, Leixose, Sibi, Keefan and Botany Triton, while Al-Manakh is due to sail out on Saturday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was modest where a total tonnage of 56,680 tons comprising 38,375 tons of export cargo including 17,209 tons of molasses and 18,305 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Kuayans, with palm oil, Kota Salam and Sima Raja, Jamila and Hyundai Future, with containers.
