KARACHI, May 12: Fly To The Sky registered another facile victory at the Summer Gymkhana Meeting held on Sunday afternoon at the Karachi Racecourse. The three-year-old bay filly galloped home in the main event, leaving the rest of the field cold while clocking 1 minute 4 3/4 seconds on tight reins going over five furlongs.
Xtasy and Lover’s Life finished 10 lengths behind the winner, while Walking Distance completed the frame.
The day’s riding honours belonged to jockey Riaz Mohammad, who piloted home Black Champion to victory in the third event and then completing another victory astride Strategic in the sixth, beating the favourite My Darling by nearly eight lengths.
Owner trainer Mehboob, a former rider himself, was not to be left behind. He too scored a brace of winners through Law Of Nature in the opening event and then had the satisfaction of saddling Quick Mover, a pillar to post victor in the fifth race of the afternoon. The winner had the services of Najam Iqbal in the saddle, while Law Of Nature was partnered by riding boy Asif Nazir.
Ever Green with Nadeem Akhtar in the saddle, scored an easy triumph in the second event, with Hogan and Prism Of Life content only for place berths.
Another popular winner was the grey gelding Ever Shine ridden by M. Nasir, who beat Lover’s Line by a handsome margin of eight and half lengths.
Maha Sagar finished third and Be Warn completed the frame as the favourite Joan Of Arc finished off the board.
