KARACHI, May 10: Five ships carrying containers and general cargo are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was relatively slow owing to delay in arrivals of some foreign vessels. As a result, only one tanker, Changi to load molasses was berthed after the sailing of three.

The berth occupancy at the wharves fell to 33 and 40 per cent both at the oil piers and the dry wharves respectively.

The ships, which departed included Safe Marine Ruvu, Leixoes and Al-Mirqab, while Changi, Mol Sincerity, Wan Hai-302, Al-Thea and Meriom Star are due to sail out on Saturday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was light totalling 47,828 tons comprising 29,168 tons of export cargo including 17,000 tons of molasses and 18,860 tons of imported goods.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Mildburg, Hyundai Progress, Parvat, Ernst Rickmers, with containers and Sibi, with general cargo.
