Land route export thru Kabul, CARs allowed


ISLAMABAD, May 9: The Central Board of Revenue has further amended the Customs Rules 2001, allowing exports to all countries, including Afghanistan and through Afghanistan to Central Asian Republics (CARs) by land route.

A notification in this respect was issued here on Thursday, which will be effective from March 7, 2002.

Following is the text of the notification:

SRO 247 (1)/2002: In exercise of the powers conferred by section 219 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969), the Central Board of Revenue is pleased to direct that the following further amendment shall be made in the Customs Rules 2001, namely:

In the aforesaid Rules, in chapter-XII, in Sub-Chapter 7, in rule 299, for sub-rule (4), the following shall be substituted, namely:

“The exports shall be admissible to all countries, including Afghanistan and through Afghanistan to Central Asian Policy and Procedures Order, 2000.”

This notification shall take effect from March 7, 2002.—APP
