Soldier guarding Army House killed

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 8: An army soldier posted on guard duties at the Army House, Rawalpindi, was shot and killed here on Wednesday, sources told Dawn.

They said the guard was hit by a bullet in the chest. The incident took place late afternoon.

When contacted, ISPR Director-General Maj-Gen Rashid Qureshi said: “It was an accidental fire from the weapon of the soldier himself.”

He said President Gen Pervez Musharraf, who is also the Chief of the Army Staff, was not in the Army House when the incident took place.
