PESHAWAR, May 8: NWFP government has placed Dr Zulfiqar Ali, a spokesman for the Hizbut Tahrir, under detention for a period of one month, declaring his political activities a threat to the maintenance of law and order in the province.

According to a statement, Dr Zulfiqar, who was arrested on May 4 from his residence in Hayatabad, had been placed under detention under Maintenance of Public Order.

The Home and Tribal Affairs Department in an order issued here on Tuesday termed the political activities of Dr Zulfiqar unlawful and hostile to public order. He was taken to D. I. Khan on Tuesday night.

Dr Zulfiqar, a student of Khyber Medical College, was doing his house job these days.
