Vaas fined

COLOMBO, May 7: Sri Lanka’s fast bowler Chaminda Vaas was fined a day’s allowance for keeping a male masseur in his hotel room during the recent Sharjah Cup tournament, officials said Tuesday.

Vaas was found with his masseur in his hotel room beyond the 10.00pm curfew a day before the final against Pakistan on April 17, the officials said.

“Some players took their own masseurs, but the understanding was that they could not stay with the players after 10.00pm,” an official said.

“On discovering a masseur in the room, the team manager imposed a fine on Vaas.”—AFP
