Pakistan-Afghan border sealed

By Our Correspondent

WANA, May 7: The political administration of South Waziristan Agency has sealed the Pakistan-Afghan border in the tribal area to check any illegal crossing of the border and smuggling of foreign goods into the country.

The administration deployed scouts aided by the troops of Pakistan army on all checkpoints along the border to prevent any possible intrusion of fleeing Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters into Pakistani territory. The deployment of the personnel of law enforcement agencies is also aimed at checking cross-border smuggling.

A platoon of Pakistan army headed by Major Waseem is stationed in the agency headquarters in Wana for over a week now.

The law enforcement agencies are also keeping a strict vigil on the activities of Afghan refugees living in the tribal area.

According to sources, no American commandos or foreign troops have arrived here to launch a crackdown on terrorist elements who might cross over into the agency from the Afghanistan side.
