PESHAWAR, May 6: NWFP Industries Minister Mohsin Aziz has stressed the need for best working condition for workers and labourers and directed the authorities concerned for the preparation of a comprehensive policy to ameliorate the lot of workers.
This he said while presiding over an inter-provincial meeting of commissioners of Provincial Employees Social Security Institutions held here on Monday.
According to an official statement, the meeting discussed in detail the lack of facilities to workers and labourers of NWFP working in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan. It was observed that families of the employees concerned working under the proposed law, namely National Employees Social Security Ordinance would be entitled to get benefits irrespective of their domicile.
This, however, would be possible only when the new social security is introduced at the national level and a proper computerized national number is assigned to the employees, the meeting observed.
It was also mentioned in the meeting that under the proposed law, the officers in charge shall issue new social security cards, which shall entitle the employee to all social security benefits, including medical coverage, cash benefits and old-age pension.
Mohsin Aziz said, “we should positively work for the welfare of workers and labourers, because they play a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy and boosting the development process.”
The minister assured all-out facilities, assistance and help on behalf of the provincial government and hoped that all other provinces would also extend their full cooperation in the larger interest of nation and the country.
The meeting was also attended by the commissioners of Provincial Employees Social Security Institutions of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan.
