Many suffer heatstroke

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, May 5: Scores of people fell unconscious as heatwave continued to grip many parts of Sindh on Sunday.

Sukkur experienced the hottest day of the season as the mercury shot up to 48 degrees Celsius.

The heatwave paralyzed life in the city and forced people to stay indoors. All bazaars wore a deserted look till the evening.

At least eight patients of sunstroke were admitted to the Civil Hospital.

APP ADDS: In Nawabshah, the Met Office recorded the maximum temperature at 50 degrees Celsius.

Frequent power suspensions and short supply of water to various localities of the district added to the hardships of people.

The People’s Medical College Hospital and many private hospitals received several patients of heatstroke.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in Hyderabad was recorded at 45.5 degrees Celsius. The city of Dadu, too, remained in the grip of heat as the mercury rose to 49 degrees Celsius.
