KARACHI, May 4: Azizullah Memon, the judge of the accountability court No 5, sentenced, in a reference, on Saturday Waryam Faqir, a former member of the Sindh Assembly, to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs2 million.

If he failed to pay the fine, he would have to undergo another two years’ RI.

He has also been disqualified for 10 years from seeking any public office. He shall also not be allowed to apply for loan from any bank or financial institution owned or controlled by the Government of Pakistan.

The accountability court also ordered the forfeiture of his property mentioned in brief facts, which he acquired during 1985 to date.

Brief facts: Waryam Faqir has accumulated huge wealth and property worth more than 25 million rupees, which are grossly disproportionate to his lawful sources of income.
