HYDERABAD, May 4: The action committee for the safe recovery of Professor Mohammad Hussain Leghari has slammed the Sindh government for its failure in the recovery of the kidnapped professor of the Liaquat Medical University despite the lapse of three weeks.
In a joint statement issued here on Saturday, the convenor of the action committee, Professor Nazeer Ashraf Leghari, and secretary, Dr Noor Mohammad Memon, accused the Sindh government of breach of promise and said that the doctors’ community had demonstrated maximum restraint and now they wanted positive results.
They pointed out that a meeting of the action committee, which was held on Thursday, had decided to call for a strike of the government, public and private sector hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres throughout the province on May 10 (Friday).
The action committee appealed to all cadres, medical and paramedical professionals to demonstrate unity for the safe recovery of Professor Leghari.
JSQM: The central leadership of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz has condemned the indifferent attitude of the government in the recovery of Professor Mohammad Hussain Leghari.
The acting chairman of the party, Shafi Karnani, general secretary, Shabbir Jamali, deputy general secretary, Mohammad Rahimoon and others in a statement, issued here on Saturday, said that when those who saved the lives of the ailing humanity were not safe, nobody was safe in Sindh.
They said that the government had made no efforts to recover the professor and added that Sindh had been converted into dacoits and police state.
They demanded that efforts should be made to recover the kidnapped professor to end the unrest among the people of Sindh.
Meanwhile, the Leghari community staged a rally in Matli to protest against the kidnapping of Professor Leghari and the inordinate delay in his recovery.
The rally started from the Leghari House and after marching on main roads, the protesters staged a demonstration on Hyderabad-Badin road for one hour.
Speaking at the rally, Allah Bachayo, Gul Mohammad and Dr Abdur Rasheed warned that if Professor Leghari was not recovered within one week, the Leghari tribesmen from all over Sindh would stage a protest demonstration at Talhar.
