ISLAMABAD, May 1: The scrutiny committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that met here Wednesday for nearly four hours ahead of Thursday’s elections of Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA) has weeded out two more clubs.

The committee headed by Brig (Retd) Khawaja Muhammad Nasir with Brig (Retd) Iqbal Awan and Ahmed Shahzad Farooq as members, had earlier granted a right of vote to 38 clubs.

However, that number has now come down to 36 after Model Town Gymkhana and Galaxy Clubs were omitted.

But the committee made it clear that whenever these two clubs compete in at least two tournaments, they would get an automatic right of vote. The scrutiny officials granted playing rights to Potohar Gymkhana.

The committee rejected the nomination papers of presidential candidate Sardar Khan and Usman Saeed Malik who was running for the post of secretary.

Those still in the run are Muhammad Ishaq Bhatti, Shakil Shaikh, Khawaja Muhammad Mustafa, Ghazi Abdul Salam, Zahid Maqbool (for president); Irfan Manzur, Muhammad Yousuf, Qazi Naushad (for secretary); Hasan Asghar, Amir Malik and Muhammad Hanif (for treasurer).

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (Rawalpindi Bench) has reportedly directed the PCB to withhold the results of the elections on a petition filed by Muhammad Yousuf.
