KARACHI: Traffic arrangements for today


KARACHI, April 27: The capital city police office here on Saturday announced elaborate traffic arrangements at the Mazar-i- Quaid-i-Azam for the occasion of the public meeting to be addressed by President General Pervez Musharraf on Sunday.

To ensure smooth traffic flow around the site, all vehicular traffic will be diverted from 1400 hours on April 28 to alternate routes. The diversion would continue till the end of the public meeting.

The diversion point includes Lasbella Chowk, Teen Hatti Chowk, Jail Road signal, Capri signal, Society roundabout, Guru Mandir Chowk, Islamia College Chowrangi, Nasra School, Agha Khan park and Garden Chowk.

No vehicular traffic will be allowed on Shahrah-i-Quaideen after 1715 hours on Sunday (April 28). No vehicle will be allowed to be parked at the surrounding roads of the Mazar-i-Quaid. These include the Shahrah-i-Quaideen junction from Kashmir Road to M.A.Jinnah Road and the Old Exhibition roundabout.

Parking will also be prohibited at Link Road behind the Mazar-i-Quaid from its junction with Shahrah-i-Quaideen up to Peoples Chowrangi with Dada Bhai Nauroji Road/ M.A Jinnah Road.

However, the participants of the meeting approaching the venue from Keamari Town, Saddar Town, Lyari Town and Defence/Clifton Town can park their vehicles at the K.G.A ground and adopt the route via M.A.Jinnah Road. They may use blue flags on their vehicles.

For VIPs and senior officials parking arrangement has been made at near Link Chowrangi on western side towards the Lines Area.These vehicles would be required to use blue and green colour stickers issued to them.

Parking arrangements for those coming from Baldia Town, Orangi Town and SITE Town have been made in and around Nishter Park. These motorists could adopt the rout via the Love-Lane signal, Soldier Bazar, P.S.Road, Iqbal Market, Bahadur Yar Jang Road. They have been authorised to fly yellow flags.

Participants approaching from Liaquatabad Town, North Nazimabad Town, New Karachi Town, Surjani and Manghopir Town can park their vehicles on M.A. Jinnah Road and Jigar Muradabadi Road from Gurru Mandir up to Old Exhibition. They may use the route via Teen Hatti, Jehangir Road, Guru Mandar to the place of parking.

Traffic approaching from Landhi and Korangi towns may park their vehicles at the Water Hydrant ground near Islamia College. They would adopt the route via Shaheed-i-Millat Road, Jail Chowrangi signal, new M.A.Jinnah Road, to the Water Hydrant ground.

Participants from Bin Qasim Town, Shah Faisal Town and Malir Town will park their vehicles on the roadside at M.A.Jinnah Road from Jail Chowrangi up to Islamia College. They will adopt the route via Karsaz signal, H.I.R Road, Stadium Road, Jail Chowrangi to new M.A.Jinnah Road.

Those from Shahrah-i-Quaideen will park their vehicles at China ground near Kashmir Road.—APP
