LAHORE, April 22: Speakers at a book launching ceremony here on Monday urged the Muslim Ummah to attain knowledge to escape exploitation and humiliation at the hands of its enemies.
Former Punjab chief minister Hanif Ramay regretted that the Muslims were not applying their mind to solving their problems. Instead, he said, they were blaming each other for the difficulties.
He urged the Ummah to hold accountable their rulers who could not even raise a joint voice against Israeli atrocities.
He also lamented the wisdom of Yasser Arafat who, he said, was demanding (statehood) for the Palestinians what the United Nations had granted them in 1948.
He said the Muslims had ignored the instructions of their prophet (peace be upon him) about seeking knowledge. The Jews had, meanwhile, taken control of the USA and Europe.
“Most of the scientists, mathematicians, physicists, bankers, journalists, publishers, producers and manufacturers are Jews. That is why they are driving the world the way they want.”
Urging the governments of Pakistan and India to solve their issues amicably, he warned them that their clashes did not suit the USA which had landed in Afghanistan to control the oil and gas reserves of the Caspian basin.
Commodore Tariq Majeed (retired) said ordinary Americans did not know that Israelis were using their country and its resources.
Describing the Jewish influence in the US government, he said budget allocations for defence or welfare projects might be slashed but the amount promised for Israel could not be reduced.
He urged the people, especially the intellectuals and journalists, to focus on learning so that they could understand the tactics of America, Israel, Russia and India.
He said the Pakistan army had suffered the most humiliating defeat in 1971 and he apprehended a similar fate unless the (authorities) understood not the enemy strategy.
