SAHIWAL, April 17: The Anti-Corruption Establishment under the supervision of a magistrate in a raid arrested an employee of the Irrigation Department for taking illegal gratification.

Muhammad Amin, reader of an SDO, had demanded Rs5,000 from farmer Khalil of Noorshah to give him favour in wara bandi of the Irrigation water. Khalil reported the matter to ACE which carried out the raid and arrested the reader red-handed.

Police have registered a case against the accused and sent him to jail on judicial remand.

ARRESTED: Fateh Sher police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three drug traffickers with 500 grams of charas near Esa Nagri.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a car (SLJ-4484) and arrested Noor Ahmed, Muhammad Afzal and Abdul Majid after seizing charas from their car.

Sources said police had recovered a heavy consignment of the charas, but registered a case of recovering 500 grams of narcotics after undergoing a secret deal with drug peddlers.

Meanwhile, the police thereafter raided on Chak 96/9-L and unearthed a distillery and recovered 10 bottles of liquor from Ghazi Ahmed.

After registering a case against him, police have sent him to jail on judicial remand.

RECOVERED: Noorshah police on Wednesday recovered an illegally confined young man and arrested three of the seven culprits who had detained him.

Bilmir, Sarfaraz, Saleem and four women had confined Rana Arshad Ali over an enmity.

A case has been registered against them.
