VEHARI, April 16: A man and a woman were killed while six people of the same family sustained injuries when alleged dacoits attacked their house with hand grenade in Chak 145/WB, Dokota locality, late Monday.
Police said eight members of Riaz Rath gang attacked on the house of Allahdad and Muhammad Murad and kidnapped married woman Kaneez Mai.
As a result of the attack, police said Allahdad and Janan bibi died instantly while six others sustained injuries and were admitted to the Mailsi Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
The injured were identified as Muhammad Nasir, Muhammad Mumtaz, Rasheed, Khan Mai, Asma Mai, Iqbal Mai and Kaneez Mai.
The Mitro police claimed the attack on Allahdad’s house was the outcome of a family dispute. Rath wanted to marry his cousin Kaneez, but, the latter’s father married her to Nasir a couple of days back, they added.
Dozens of cattle were also killed in the attack.
Rath gang had reportedly been active in V
