KARACHI, April 13: Seventeen vehicles — eight cars and nine motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Saturday, police sources said.
Five cars were hijacked and three others stolen in different localities, including Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saddar, Clifton, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, etc.
Four motorcycles were hijacked and five others stolen in various parts, including North Karachi, Korangi, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Federal B- Area, etc.
SUICIDE: A young man committed suicide in his Sharea Faisal home on Saturday.
The police said that Akhtar Einderyas, aged 21, a sanitary worker, lived in a dairy farm and he was a sanitary worker at the PAF Base Sharea Faisal. He was found hanging in his home.
The police were informed, which sent the body to a hospital for autopsy. The cause of suicide could not be ascertained immediately.
KILLED: Three people were killed in the city on Saturday.
A labourer was shot dead in a family feud in SITE in the morning. Police said that Qeemat Khan, aged 32, killed Nawab Khan about five months back in his native village, Kala Dhaka, in District Mansehra, the NWFP, and came over to the city. Here he lived in an eating-house where he made bread. Barkat Faiz, a relation of Qeemat’s, told the police that Hazrat Sani, uncle of Nawab Khan, came after Qeemat to Karachi, and when he found an opportunity he took revenge. The police registered a case against Hazrat Sani. The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy.
A man was found murdered in a room of a hotel in Lyari on late Friday night.
The police said they were informed that foul smell was coming out from a room in a hotel in Baghdadi, Lyari. The police broke open the door and found Jaffar Husain, aged 32, lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds. The dagger, which was used in the killing, was also found in the room.
Police investigations showed that Jaffar Husain and Haji Mohammed came to stay at the hotel on April 10, and both of them, hailing from Muzaffargarh, had been staying in the same room. Haji Mohammed was traceless, the police said.
In Steel Town police limits, a man was found murdered with his head smashed on Saturday evening.
The police said that the man was found dead in the bushes, along National Highway, in Palari Goth. The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy where the dead man was identified as Laloo, son of Kaloo. He was reportedly an employee of the KWSB. The police believed the man was hit on the head with a hard and blunt weapon.
ACCIDENT: A man and a three-year-old boy were run over by a train in Malir City on Saturday, while walking across the railway tracks.
When contacted a duty officer at Railway Cantonment police station said that the accident took place in their limits, but they did not have details of it.
