HYDERABAD: Reinstatement of women teachers demanded

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, April 5: Under the banner of the teachers action committee, over one dozen sacked women school teachers staged a token hunger strike outside the office of the Zila Nazim on Friday.

They were protesting against the dismissal of 52 women teachers of Hyderabad. They demanded that as per the report of the inquiry committee, they be reinstated in service.

They warned that if their families were not saved from starvation, they would resort to extreme steps and the responsibility for the consequences would rest with the authorities concerned.

The leaders of the All Sindh Teachers Association, Kazi Aminuddin and Salahuddin also visited the hunger strikers’ camp and expressed solidarity with the teachers.
