LAHORE, March 30: Christians will celebrate Easter marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ after crucifixion on Sunday (today).
Special Easter services will be in churches throughout the country early in the morning and will continue for hours. The biggest Easter congregation in the provincial metropolis will be held at the Cathedral Church of the Resurrection, The Mall at 10am.
The Presiding Bishop of Pakistan, Bishop Samuel Assure, said in his Easter message that it was unfortunate that Pakistan and its worship places had become a target of violence. This was an act of cowardice on the part of those who performed the inhuman acts and was a reflection of their belief, bitterness and lack of understanding of God.
The Bishop of Lahore, Dr Alexander John Malik, said in his message that Easter was the feast of victory over sin and death. Through resurrection, Jesus Christ had emerged triumphant over the demonic forces of evil and death.
“Easter provides hope to all those who are struggling against the forces of evil and injustice and that their struggle would be fruitful even through death.”
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Christian Muslim Relations congratulated Christians on Easter.
