Zakat chief ‘mishandled’ cheques

DERA GHAZI KHAN, March 29: District Nazim Jamal Khan Leghari has sent report against the zakat committee chairman and suggested his termination for mishandling of the fund and ignoring the district council while distribution of zakat cheques, a press release stated on Friday.

According to details, the house of district council passed resolution against distribution of zakat cheques but committee Chairman Akhwand Fazal Khaliq violated the orders and district councils resolution.

Mr Leghari sent a report to the Punjab governor against the chairman, levelling charges of mishandling the fund. He claimed the chairman, district zakat officer and secretary were involved in malpractice.
