KARACHI: Nazim warns transporters

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 29: The City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, said on Friday the city government is ready to solve the genuine problems of transporters, but instigating people to observe strike is against the law.

In a statement, he said the city government was always ready to hold talks with transporters, but it would not allow reckless driving and law of the jungle on the roads and drivers responsible for accidents would not be allowed to get away.

He said it had come to the notice of the government that transporters were inciting people to observe a wheel-jam strike on Saturday to press the government to meet their demands, which included release of those responsible for the Karimabad accident. The genuine problems of transporters would be solved, but traffic laws and safety measures on roads would strictly be implemented.

The city Nazim has constituted a four-member committee to hold talks with transporters and submit the report to him.
