By Our Correspondent

DADU, March 28: A large number of the Nazims of different union councils of Dadu district, belonging to the Awam Dost Panel (ADP), staged a demonstration outside the local press club on Wednesday.

They were protesting against the district Nazim and the DCO of Dadu for not allocating funds for development schemes proposed by them.

The demonstrators were led by Khudaabad union council Nazimn Mohammad Paryal Birmani, Bahawalpat union council Nazim Saeed Ahmed Jamali, Mehar Town union council Nazim Hyder Bukhsh Jatoi, Dal union council Nazim Aftab Ahmed Shahani, the president of PPP, Dadu district, Rafique Ahmed Jamali, and others.

Later, speaking at a press conference at the Dadu Press Club, Mr Birmani alleged that district Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar has not allocated funds for the schemes proposed by Nazims belonging to the ADP while funds were frequently allocated for development schemes of Nazims belonging to the Dadu Ittehad.

He said that the ADP Nazims had proposed several development projects and submitted the same in writing to the district Nazim and the DCO.

He said that DCO Mohammad Qasim Lashari has rejected the projects submitted by the ADP Nazims and approved only those schemes presented by the Nazims of the Dadu Ittehad.

The Nazim of union council of Mehar said that the DCO had allocated Rs10 million for only one scheme of Beto Jatoi union council.

He said that the DCO was not ready to meet with any Nazim belonging to the ADP.

He threatened if the district Nazim did not release funds for the schemes proposed by the ADP Nazims, they would launch a series of demonstrations against the district Nazim and the DCO in front of the Governor’s House in Karachi and boycott the session of the district council, Dadu.

NAZIM’S VERSION: When contacted, district Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar said that he had allocated funds for every union council of his district on equal basis.

He said that schemes were sent to concerned departments for carrying out the work.
