KARACHI, March 28: Five ships carrying containers and to load molasses are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy rate increased to 54 and 67 per cent both on the dry and oil piers as ship movements were maintained on the higher side thanks to steady arrivals and sailing.

Seven ships, MSC Corinna, Lexieos, Lanka Mahapola, to unload and load containers, Banglar Mookh to load general cargo, Frontier Express and W.S.Challenger to offload high speed diesel and soyabean oil and Maya to load molasses were berthed after the sailing of five.

The departing ships included Pretty River, Wan Hai-235, Pontonkis, Oriental Lily and Warbah, while Lexioes, Frontier Express, MOL Sincerity, and W.S.Challenger are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves active where a total tonnage of 96,088 tons comprising 14,994 tons of export cargo including 3,103 tons of rice and 81,094 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Friday: Liano, to load 29,000 tons of molasses, Al-Manakh, SC Prementle, Global Power an Jamila, with containers.
